Plow Day Champs

Better late than never, right? lol

Back in April, I participated in a Plow Competition in Holly Springs, MS and won first Place. This is an event that we have been going to every year for the past 16 years. I always plow and usually win 2nd or 3rd place in women's. About 5 years ago, I won first, but haven't won since. Me and my competitor had to have a plow off this year because our rows were so close. For those of you that don't know, a plow competition is when you walk behind a horse or mule holding a plow used to plow the fields. The goal is to have the straightest furrow (row) so the crops will be lined up nicely. We do it as a fun day and have many other fun events for people of all ages. The favorite is the kids competition. Every child that plows, wins at least $5. First place gets $50 i think, 2nd gets 25 and everyone ties up for 3rd. Pretty fun, huh. My trophy was a wooden mini plow mounted on a plaque. I looked back and couldn't find any pictures of me with my award. I put it in the playroom on the bookshelf to show that thing off! haha ~I guess being raised in the country, I have come to love these country fun events. Houston also participates each year and our entire family has so much fun.

Sports, Fun and a Campout

In one of my recent posts, I told you we have been super busy lately. Here are some candids of our recent happenings.

This is at Houston's Tball awards ceremony. We were really busy with tball practice, tball games, softball practice and softball games, but we made it to all of them and we all survived.

This was our Kindergarten cookout that I organized for my class at the end of the school year. My hubby came to volunteer and grill all day and of course the best room mom and grandmom EVER (Loretta and Sheila)! Couldn't do it without these folks. Love my hubby for being an awesome parent volunteer and husband.

Houston was doing the sack race at Field Day and won. I had to man the relay race so I missed him doing a bunch of games, but they told me he was the best tball player out there. Whoo hooo! Also, I think he did pretty darn good at Cornhole. (My fave)

Here are a couple pictures of Houston at his Horse Show last weekend. The good ones are on my big camera and I haven't loaded them to my computer yet. He won First Place in Lead In and 3rd or 4th in Buckaroo. He has never done Buckaroo before and was a little nervous, but stayed out there and tried his best. Way to go little buddy! Love my Cowboy!

We survived camping out in the backyard last night. The food off the grill was amazing and the tent was.....well, cramped. It is actually a kids 2 man tent and my hubby is 6 foot. He slept at an angle and we crammed against the edge to sleep. I kept waking up ever other hour hoping it was time to GET UP. Finally at 6:30 am, we decided to come out, get up and stretch our poor legs a little.

A little later, Tim bush hogged the pasture and Houston and I caught up on blog reading and got ready for our family pictures. Our pictures were taken at Arlington Square and I think they turned out cute. She showed me a peak on her camera :) Then we had lunch at El Nopal and now we are relaxing for a bit before we go poolside or slip-n-slide at least. Houston has his suit on and is ready to go!

Busy as a Bee!

Today has been so productive! Mawmaw and Pawpaw slept over last night after my softball game with Houston. We woke up this morning, cooked breakfast, cleaned house, worked in the flowerbeds, they mowed and weeded the yard while Tim was at work. I blowed the driveway with the blower. Houston and I made these cute little pet rocks with wiggly eyes, we played corn hole, went fishing. I gave the dog a good hair clipping, trimmed Houston's hair, washed my car, washed and cleaned the inside of Tim's car (which was a hot mess), helped Tim around the barn and ran to the tanning bed. Oh yeah, and rode 3 miles on bikes around the loop.
Now we are getting ready to grill out and camp out tonight. Houston is so excited. We planned to go to Chickasaw this weekend, but family plans came up for the weekend, so that got delayed. We were, then going to camp out in the woods (our 20 acres), but Tim saw 3 snakes out there when he was hauling hay today, so that cancels that out for me! Anyway, we are going out to fire up the grill and let our fun night begin.

Isn't this amazing? I saw it in Collierville at Chili's last weekend. Then I came home and Tim's cousin posted on fbook that they were out for a frined's birthday in it. Super jealous here! My friend Melissa spotted it also the same weekend in Cordova. This man must be busy. The only thing I am thinking is.....how much does it take to fill up at the pump? I am sure, I don't want to even know!!

A Special Day for Dad

My dad has been a firemen with Shelby County Fire Dept for 33 years. He has been saying for the past few years that it would be his last year. Finally he decided to complete the paperwork earlier this year and go for it. We try to stop by every Sunday after church and see him, when it is his shift since his station is next door to our church. I love that Houston will always have that memory of "Paw's firestation". So, the night he retired, Houston, Tim and I stopped by the fire station one last time to see the truck and his crew. We surprised him with a cake too. His crew and chief had also surprised him with a steak dinner and they got him cake and ice cream. We had so much fun and I am so proud of his heroic career.

Thank you Lord Jesus for keeping my dad safe all of those years he risked his life to help others.

Trying to be crafty

I know you all probably know how much I love finding a good bargain. My bloogy friend Babbling Abby has really got me into checking out the local Goodwill. A few weeks ago I thought about updating my front door wreath for Spring. I went to Goodwill and couldn't turn down a bargain.

I found this old wreath for $1.99.

I took everything off of it, bought some flowers, ribbon, a wooden C for our last name, scrapbook paper and some modge podge and taahh dahhh...........

I think it looks so springy and I was proud of my crafty ability when I was done. Have any of you seen any cute crafty ideas or tried anything cute you want to share?

9 Years........

Together for 16 years and on tomorrow May 25, 2011, it will be 9 years since the day we said, "I Do".
A successful married life requires falling in love many times, but always with the same person.

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life and best friend, Tim. I love you so much and look forward to many more years of happiness spent with you!

A normal schedule for us......

Sorry for the lack of blog posts, but it has been a crazy past few weeks. Here is a look at our schedule from last week and this week is even more hectic.

Last Week:
Saturday- Tball game and Fair on the square
Sunday- Church and Mothers Day picnic at the farm
Monday- my softball game
Tuesday- Houston's 2 tball games
Wednesday- RELAX, not really
Thursday-Softball practice
Friday-Conference in Memphis all day and Wedding Rehearsal immediately after school
Saturday-Wedding pictures, wedding, and reception (Houston was ring bearer)
Sunday- Sports Sunday at the church Hou plays ball for, soccer game to watch a friend afterwards

This week:
Monday- Softball game
Tuesday- Class picnic/cookout and Houston's awards night for Tball
Wednesday-Houston's Kindergarten Graduation and my class as well~ Kinda hard being a mom and teacher at this point. Then a retirement party that evening.
Thursday- Field Day at school and a softball game that night.
Friday-1/2 day and drinks with friends later! WHOOO HOOOO~ I will need it after the next few days :)
Saturday-VBS meeting and horse show.

I may not be posting much, but will once things calm down I will be sure to catch you up in pictures :)

1. Summer Break is quickly approaching! We have Kindergarten graduation one week from today *tear* Bittersweet, but ready for SUMMER BREAK!!

2. This precious letter one of my sweethearts made me for teacher appreciation.

*Did ya see why she loves me? Because I make her do work all the time. The child LOVES to be challenged and do work all the time.


3. This sweet Mother's Day gift Houston made me. He thinks I am as pretty as a queen. This child seriously melts my heart to pieces. He and his daddy went all out for Mother's Day and got me a new camera case, an adorable Memphis Tigers tee, and a 2 tier rack for my kitchen to serve desserts from. Love my boys!

*oh yea, he got my fave food correct..... can we say ROTEL? yum

4. My new camera and camera strap my honey got me for my birthday! Love it, need I say more.

I also think he loves it as much as I do. He uses it more for sure :)

5. Last I'm loving the girl time I got to spend last week at a local Mexican restaurant drinking some yummy margaritas with my mom. Much needed stress reliever for the hectic and busy end of school year.

Classroom Butterflies

This is the 4th year I have used the Insect Lore Butterfly Kits with my kindergarten class. I have always had good luck, but this year my caterpillars crysalysed way too fast. I called the company and they sent out another batch a few days later.

So we had two sets of caterpillars to watch transform and metamorphosis into a butterfly this year. This is a pic after the caterpillars turned into a chrysalis.

Yes, those balls are poop, gross and disgusting, but cool to a bunch a 5 year olds.
We actually watched him transform and then he stopped and ended up dying

Now, we have another set of butterflies that are beginning to crysallize. This is such a great idea to do with the kids and a wonderful learning experience as well.
