Me with the lovely bride
Last night was the wedding of Dustin and Melissa Jones. Check out her blog http://melissaannebradley.blogspot.com, not sure if I linked it right. It was absolutely beautiful. It was outside at Club Windward. There was a chance of rain yesterday, first rain all summer, and on my way to the wedding it began to sprinkle. The closer I got to the reception location, the harder it rained. Oh no, I knew Melissa was going to be freaking out. Her back up plan was to have the wedding inside, but it was so crowded and the outdoor atmosphere with gazebo and outdoor pool was so pretty. We waited a little while and it stopped. She decided to go for it and have it outside. Her colors were tutti fruiti and black and white. They look so good together. Can you tell those are my favorite colors? I got to see some old friends we use to work with at Totally kids as well as some new friends I met through Melissa. The food was catered and was chicken, baked potato skins with sour cream :), cheeses, crackers, fruit, dip and was so delicious. There was an open bar with choice of any drink you can imagine. I had to give in and had way to many margaritas and Cinderellas. The band, Pam and Terry were incredible. They were so interactive with everyone and just a fun, layed back couple. I think everyone danced all night. It was such a fun atmosphere. By the end of the night, my straightened hair had turned frizzy and my high heals were OFF. Dustin sang songs and played the guitar for her and they later sang a duo together. So special! Allison and Megan, (kids she use to babysit) got up and sang, Our Song (I think). We all did the cha cha slide and many other wild dances. I have very little dance moves, but was moving it last night, MANDY STYLE! lol
Anyway, her mom and dad looked great. Her dad is such a sweetie. You will find him outside of uniform, wearing a Hawaiian shirt or Memphis Tigers shirt. He wore his fav Hawaiian shirt under his tux and it was precious. Mrs. Chris had a beautiful dress on and Dustin's parents looked great as well. They all looked so happy. Her grandfather performed the ceremony. During the ceremony, they observed the Lord's Supper. I loved that idea. Never heard of doing it at a wedding, but thought it was a fabulous idea.
Well, they are celebrating in the Dominican Republic right now at Punta something having the time of their life. I can't wait to see pictures and hear all about her all inclusive resort.
I got in last night after 1 am and woke up this morning a little sore. We went to a cookout and had a great time. We have spent this afternoon in the pool. Tonight, I think we are taking Houston somewhere special for his hard work in swimming and reading this week. He has not worn floaties all summer and is jumping off the diving board and swimming across the pool without wearing his body out. His back floats can last almost a minute and he can dive down and get rings and sticks. He has been able to move around the water since last year. He could "swim" but would immediately go to the side. This year, he jumps in and stays in the deep treading water or diving down to retrieve something. I swear, he thinks he is a fish. He has been practicing stretching and blending his words for Kindergarten and is able to read many cvc words. Mostly short a blends, like cat, hat, map, nut, log, pup and big. I am so proud of him and his progress. I get so frustrated with him and lose patience, but he can really do alot for his age. We have been counting by 1's and 5's to 100. He mastered 10's back in the spring, but has got 5's and is almost ready to master 0-100. Houston will be 5 August 3rd and I feel like yesterday he was in my arms in the hospital.*tear* Hope everyone has a great weekend. Got to go get ready so we can head out to celebrate!
